VINYL
Vinyl Flooring is a popular flooring option that is known for its durability and low cost. In fact, vinyl itself is the second most commonly used plastic in the world. Vinyl flooring is used in both residential and commercial buildings but is more common in commercial use. The use of vinyl in residential homes is on the rise though, with Luxury Vinyl Tile mimicking the look of higher end floor coverings. As the most popular resilient floor covering, there are a number of vinyl flooring types. Firs there is sheet vinyl, which comes in a roll, and then there is vinyl tile.
Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) are typically made of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) chips that are compressed using high levels of heat and pressure. LVT’s, can mimic other flooring types using a photographic decal underneath a clear wear layer. This means that you can get vinyl floors that look like tile, hardwood, or stone floors.
One of the first things that makes vinyl a great option is its durability. Vinyl flooring has traditionally been used in high traffic, commercial areas because it stands up very well to wear and tear. Vinyl handles abrasion better than many flooring options and has a high tolerance to impact damage. Vinyl is very stain and water resistant, as opposed to materials like hardwood, which are prone to water damage.
